I don't usually follow the HP-UX AFS threads, so I'm not sure what problems
have been previously reported in this area. Several of our HP 9000/800
systems were upgraded to 2 processor systems last Thursday. These systems
are running HP-UX 9.04 with the AFS 3.3 cache manager. Prior to the upgrade,
there were no problems with AFS on these systems. The HP system administrators
report that on Friday, the day after the upgrade, they had indications of AFS
inconsistencies on one of the systems. Doing an "ls" in an AFS directory listed
no files where files existed. By this morning, any reference to an AFS
directory hung the process which made the reference. None of these processes
could be killed, and eventually the machine had to be rebooted. At this time
the system is operational. The question the HP administrators have is whether
there have been similar problems reported with HP-UX systems with 2 processors.
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?
