Our AFS 3.3/3.4beta cell (informatik.uni-tuebingen.de) consists of three
database servers. The following is an excerpt of our CellServDB:

>informatik.uni-tuebingen.de    # Fakultaet fuer Informatik
134.2.12.2                      #pu-afs.informatik.uni-tuebingen.de (AFS 3.3)
134.2.14.2                      #ti-afs1.informatik.uni-tuebingen.de (AFS 3.3)
134.2.14.1                      #peanuts.informatik.uni-tuebingen.de (AFS 3.4b)

The correct vldb is:

harriet% vos listvldb | more
TeXfonts
    RWrite: 536871285     Backup: 536871287
    number of sites -> 1
       server fs-afs partition /vicepf RW Site

adm
    RWrite: 536871519     Backup: 536871521
    number of sites -> 1
       server inca partition /vicepe RW Site

aix3.ncftp-2.3.0
    RWrite: 536875498     ROnly: 536875499
    number of sites -> 2
       server ti-afs1 partition /vicepb RW Site
       server ti-afs1 partition /vicepb RO Site
...

Todays morning we have had an power failure. Now we get on some machines (?)
sometimes an corrupted VLDB which looks like this:
harriet% vos listvldb | more

    number of sites -> 13
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site
       server pu-afs partition /vicepa RO Site

    number of sites -> 13
...

Because we get this VLDB just sometimes and not on all machines, it seems to
me that the VLDB is not synchronized between the different database servers.
Changing the entry of our cell in CellServDB (e.g. deleting an server) on one
machine, sometimes leads to a correct vldb. Especially if only one server
(peanuts) is entered, then the vldb seems to be ok all the time.

However, we are able to work with this vldb (add and delete an entry), so I
think the database server agree about the state of the vldb.

Does anyone knows about this problem and can offer any hints? How can we find
out from which database server the output of 'vos listvldb' comes from?

Thanks,
     Till
