So far, Dave Norton and Vinay Saxena have responded to my inquiry of
the problem on starting afsd on OSF1/V3.2C machine. Thanks for their
information. But I think I need to clarify a bit first. Yes the
/usr/vice/cache is on a UFS filesystem on the machine (in fact, all
the partitions are on UFS). I have also made the correct change in
the vfs_conf.c file (if just followed the incorrect setp 4 in the
Installation Guide, I would have simply failed re-compiling the kernel.:-).
I think I have made the correct changes and re-configured the kernel
correctly like what has been suggested by both. But still, the afsd
just refused to come up in the final step. I tried turning on the debug
/verbose flag to see the error but those four lines I got are not
informative enough to give a hint to me. Does anybody else who might
be familiar with the source code know what actually the error message
implies? Thanks in advance for the help.
