Oddly enough, we (CIS) are already running a hacked version of
Qualcomm's qpopper 2.4.  We are using a hacked version of Cygnus CNS
96Q4 as well.  All of this under SunOS 5.5.1.

We experience temporary kerberos errors occasionally ("You have no
tickets cached", "Generic error (get_intkt)"), so we loop a few times on
such errors...

Since you're also at Pitt, I think we could work something out. 
Alternatively, you could just point your users at our server :-)
