In each of the occasions that I noticed this error, when I manually said
"vos backup volume.name", there would be an error in the volume that forced
us to salvage the volume. Perhaps you need to salvage home.user1 with
"bos salvage".

If you're using a tape stacker and AFS 3.4a, tell it to not prompt at all,
even for errors. Unfortunately, I don't have the manuals at hand, so I
don't remember the exact sequence. However, if you're doing this by hand,
I don't see an alternative. That said, this is a sign of a problem, IMHO,
and should not occur regularly.
