The scenario that we use is a KPOP server along with a kerberized pop
client. This allows a user to pop their mail from home as always with
their login/password, but also allows a program such as kerberized
fetchmail to retrieve their mail from the server, and write it to a file
in afs. This seems to work relatively well, and has for years.
