The time for the Winter '93 conference is rapidly approaching. I'll be posting an agenda to this group in the next day or so. Recent discussions on this group have reinforced my belief that a couple specific panels would be useful; one on Kerberos matters and another covering backup issues. There will be a `formal' talk on the Kerberos issue but due to the level of questions and site-specific issues that are involved, I feel that a panel discussion/extended Q&A session would be helpful. I'd like to put out a call for folks who plan to attend and would be willing to sit on a panel to discuss Kerberos/kaserver issues. I'll try to coerce our Kerberos speaker and a representative of Transarc to sit on the panel, but I'd also like two to three other representatives from sites who have dealt with this problem. Preferably those representing differing approaches or unique site problems. There has also been much discussion of backup issues. Transarc will be providing an overview of AFS 3.3 and I expect any backup changes will be covered there, however it might be useful to hear how sites of varying sizes and with different situations are dealing with backup. I have an offer from one site dealing with unattended backup issues to sit on a backup panel and we might also convince one of the Transarcians to sit also, but again, two-three other representatives of user sites who are dealing with backup, and backup-scalability issues would be useful. If you're interested, please send me e-mail. No paper or presentation will be needed, but I will send out a site survey to help us characterize your site to the other conference-goers. Each panel member will be asked to give a 3-5 minute synopsis of their site's Kerberos or backup scheme. In addition to the panel members, if anyone is interested in moderating, please send me email to that effect. -- Martin R.
