Below is an announcement of the AFS Users Group in Boca Raton,
Florida, January 21-22, 1993. The announcement, along with
registration forms for both the Users Group and the AFS
Administrator Training class, were mailed to site contacts

                    AFS Users Group

         Boca Raton, Florida  January 21--22, 1993

Winter AFSUG

The Winter AFS Users Group will be held January 21--22, 1993 in Boca
Raton, Florida. The meeting site will be the Holiday Inn-Glades Road
in Boca Raton. The Holiday Inn is located at the southwest corner of
Interstate 95 and Glades Road.

Program

The two-day program will combine plenary sessions with a two-track
format. There will be a general track to address basic configuration
and management issues, and an advanced technical track for more
in-depth programming and performance issues. Topics to be presented
include:

* Integrating AFS with MIT Kerberos
* AFS to DFS migration
* Unattended Backups
* AFS troubleshooting techniques
* AFS 3.3 and new port schedule
* DCE update (presented by OSF)

WIPs & BOFs

In the evenings, rooms have been reserved for Work In Progress reports
and Birds-of-a-Feather sessions. There will be bulletin boards at the
meeting site with sign-up sheets for timeslots.

Registration

To register for the meeting, complete the enclosed AFS Users Group
Meeting Registration Form (yellow) and return it to the Transarc
address listed on the form. Completed forms --- including payment or
purchase order --- must be returned by January 6, 1993. The
registration fee of $65 per attendee includes meeting proceedings,
and continental breakfast, lunch and snacks on both days.

Hotel Accommodations

Special hotel rates of $79 per night (single or double) will be
available at the Holiday Inn. For reservations, you may call the
Holiday Inn directly at 407--368--5200. Be sure to mention the AFS
Users Group when making your reservation. Reservations must be made
by December 27 to guarantee this rate.

Air Transportation

Boca Raton is approximately 20 miles north of the Fort
Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport, 45 miles north of the Miami Airport, and
25 miles south of the West Palm Beach Airport. Glades Road is exit
39 on Interstate 95.

Special airfares have been arranged through Delta Airlines. These
fares are discounted approximately 45% off of standard coach fares.
Advance purchase rules apply. Reservations may be made through either
Ponzio Travel at 800--922--6946, or directly through Delta at
800--241--6760. When making reservations you must provide the meeting
 identifier number of Q1205 to qualify for the reduced fares.

Local Transportation

Special rental car rates are available from Dollar Rent-a-Car. These
rates range from $23.99 to $29.50 per day/$118.99 to $132.50 per week,
with unlimited milage. To quality for the special rates, mention you
are with the AFS Users Group meeting at the Holiday Inn-Glades Road
when making the reservation.

Excel Limo, Inc. will be providing limousine service to the Holiday
Inn from the Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach airports.
For reservations, call 407--338--4202. The per-person cost ranges
>From $17 to $60, depending on the number of people traveling together.

Reception

There will be a welcome reception the Wednesday evening before the
meeting from 7--10pm.  Attendees will be able to register and pick up
their conference packets at the reception.

AFS Administrator Training

Transarc is offering an AFS Systems Administrators training class the
three days prior to the user meeting, January 18--20. The class will
be held at the Holiday Inn, with the discounted room rates  available
for class attendees. To register for the class, complete the attached
training registration form (blue), and either FAX it to Megan
DeFrancis at 412--338--4404, or return it along with your user group
registration materials.
