I'm just wondering whether this is a sign of things to come -- I
noticed that there is a file, readable only by me and a few system
administrators, containing my address, course registration, and grade
point average.

Obviously, it must have been a considered decision, and I don't
necessarily disagree with it. I'm curious, though -- have other sites
gone even further and stored grades, personnel evaluations, and so on
on the AFS? I guess I'm asking how much others trust afs, unix, the
internet, and so on, with sensitive data.

For all I know, afs may be more secure, but less obscure, than the
mainframe, where the grades are currently stored. After all, the
mainframe is also on the internet.

For the time being, I'm posting this to the afs mailing list. If you'd
like for the topic to be moved elsewhere, drop me a note. :-)
