So, what's depot?
-----------------
Depot is a simple UNIX application software management tool.
In essence, depot provides the structure for separating applications
into separate directory hieararchies for ease of management. Depot
then 'integrates' the separate collection into one virtual area, thus
providing a single 'environment view' for the users.

Availability:
-------------
A paper describing depot (and some of its other uses) can be
retrieved via anonymous ftp from export.acs.cmu.edu (128.2.35.66) as
/pub/depot/depot.ps.Z. (This is the same paper that appeared in the
LISA VI proceedings)

The source code can be found in the same directory as
depot.020.tar.Z.

The AFS path to this area is:
                /afs/andrew.cmu.edu/system/archive/cmu/anonftp/pub/depot

Final notes:
------------
. Depot may be freely restributed and used with no licensing
restrictions. We'd welcome any patches that you may have. Note
the code is still copyrighted by CMU,

. This is NOT the same depot as the one from NIST. While there are
shared concepts, the implementation and underlying philosophy
        does differ.

. Depot does not require AFS.
