For the FTP problem: we experienced the same here many months ago and I
reported the problem to Transarc.
It actually never was marked urgent, since I managed to get around it just by
recompiling ftpd with the '-g' compiler option instead of '-O' (we have an
AFS source license). It may be a compiler bug, or just that somewhere in
the authentication code things are overwritten randomly and now hit
somewhere else, in any case it works here.
I wonder if Transarc could just do the same re-compile unless they already
know where the error is and fixed it.
