We have had an intermittent problem on both AFS servers and clients when we shutdown the machines. Sometimes when we reboot or shutdown -r, the RS/6000 crashes with flashing 888's in the LED display. Near as I can tell from looking at the system dump that is taken at the time of crash, the offending process is afsd. Is there a known problem with afsd on RS/6000's during a shutdown? Is there something special I should be doing to stop the afsd processes before a shutdown? How can I kill the afsd processes on client and server machines?
