A follow on post by the same user, dated 93/06/23, stated:

BAD NEWS. We installed that fix on our troubled server and rebooted
last week. This morning, it crashed with exactly the same
symptoms, and we lost another partition !
I think that we'll go back to storing data locally and using FTP :-)
