I am looking for any input from AFS user's on methods for integrating
our PC environment with AFS/Unix.
Currently we are running MS-Windows with Dec's Pathworks on the PC's.
Our AFS fileservers our IBM RS6000's with IBM, HP, SGI clients. PC
users who need access to GUI applications on unix use FTP's PC-Xware and
Chameleon. In the past users on Dec Ultrix had the ability to net mount
unix drives on their PC through Pathworks. This provided seemless
integration from their desktop for edit, print, file management, etc.
With AFS we have lost this functionality, and while gaining many enefits
>From AFS lack of this function is prompting us to consider moving user
data back to a DEC platform, and using NFS mounts to all are compute
machines.
Any info or suggestions are welcome as I would prefer not togo back to
administering NFS volumes.
