I took the course last June as we were starting our AFS project at
Convex. It was excellent. Going in with NFS internals experience,
I found the concepts easy and had time to ponder the details and
look for limitations. A couple of our support people and one of our
writers also took the course, and felt it covered the material well
also. The course arms you with the tools, and if you can practice
them, the troubleshooting instincts, to successfully manage an AFS
cell, from setup through long-term planning issues. One of the
other developers had taken the DFS System Administration class from
the OSF, and the differences were striking - the OSF course was not
coherent, while the Transarc course hung together very well. It
takes time to put a good course together, and clearly Transarc has
had the time to do a very good job of this course. I hope the OSF
will catch up over time.
