Does anyone have experience running an AFS server on a machine whose
network interface is FDDI? Are the experiences positive? Are there
any special problems to be aware of or watch for?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

We have been running AFS on HP700 fileservers with two different types
of FDDI interfaces for over 1.5 years with only one significant
problem, which was quickly fixed. The main thing that we had to watch
out for was that the MTU on the FDDI is something like 4352, and
talking to a workstation connected via Ethernet on the the other side
of a router could make the router crash, since the router had to do
the packet fragmentation. This was not true of AFS, but we did have
problems with other distributed programs.
