We're using the NFS/AFS translator and seem to be having performance-type
problems. We have AIX machines that are true AFS clients and about 10 other
machines which are Suns and HPs that are using the translator. We are
software developers who do frequent builds of different products, but these
builds seem to hang only on machines using the translator and we get tons
of "NFS server not responding, still trying/NFS server ok" messages. We have
increased the NFS timeout to 300, but this didn't help at all. The true AFS
clients don't experience the build hangs. We're trying to get Sun AFS binaries
installed to make them true clients, but in the meantime, we're broken.
Is anyone else using the translator in a production environment of Suns
and HPs (or other machine types)? Has anyone else experienced problems
like this before? Any and all advice would be appreciated!
