The AIX version of AFS handles mmap just fine - it has
to because the AIX version of "ld" uses that to write executables.
I don't know how general that support is - in particular,
I don't know if it works on Sun's. It's likely to be very
OS specific, because mmap depends on many properties of
the memory paging system, and there are several major
different kinds of memory pagers in popular use today.
Indeed, even mmap support itself seems to bes kind of
variable.
