Subject: emacs 19.27 and SGI's

We are currently attempting to compile emacs 19.27 on the SGI platform
running IRIX 5.2 and AFS 3.3a. This should be a simple procedure, however
our SGI's continue to crash and or hang with ever increasing load avg. when
the make is run. We have built the SGI kernel with a special
libafs.SP.R4000.a from transarc. Failure always occurs when attempting file
commands on the AFS files or directories. Simple commands like rm can
lock the workstation. We have tried this on different models... Indy's,
Indigo's, Indigo2's and all fail. The SGI's also have many AFS deficiencies
their vuelogin environ., the rcmnds, no df listing of /afs.....
If anyone has found solutions to any of these problems I would appreciate
hearing about them.
