The Transarc WWW Home Page is now publically available through
FTP as:
ftp://grand.central.org/afs/transarc.com/public/www/Home.html
You can also access it through AFS using the URL:
file://localhost/afs/transarc.com/public/www/Home.html
Many of the links in our home page are protected by access control
lists. If you have an authentication account at Transarc you should
klog first.
For those of you who have asked, Transarc uses an http server
(www.transarc.com) for internal query processing and resource discovery
research. **It is NOT accessible outside our firewall.** For "static"
documents, we prefer to use the ACLs, client caching, server
replication, and reliability of AFS. More information about the
advantages of using AFS to enhance WWW access is documented in a paper
that will appear in the Second Mosaic'94 Conference in Chicago. A copy
of that paper is available through FTP or AFS at:
/afs/transarc.com/public/www/Department/ARPA/Mosaic94/paper.html
The Transarc ARPA research group will have several announcements
about this project during the next several days.
