To avoid annoying
James Ralston Crawford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I'll keep this as brief as I can.
We run a kerberized version of popper, source to which
can be found in
/afs/umich.edu/group/itd/ftp/sysadm/mail/kpop-1.831.tar.Z
For mail notification, we have long used:
/afs/umich.edu/group/itd/ftp/sysadm/mail/zcomsat.tar.Z
this replaces comsat and sends out zephyrgrams,
very much like what
"Roland J. Schemers III" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
describes.
For mail delivery, we use sendmail running on an RS/6K delivering to
local mail boxes. We hacked in "pts group" support, so that the great
hordes of AFS users out there won't be tempted to use our tiny mail host
as their mail server (for historical reasons, we use the IFS password
file instead of a tiny local password file, & also use pts groups to
limit access to ftp, login, etc.) Until recently, we've been using
a custom sendmail of dubious ancestry, but we're about to upgrade our mail
host to AIX 3.2.5, and we're taking the opportunity to upgrade sendmail
to the latest we could find--8.6.9. So, I've hacked in pts group support
to that version of sendmail, & I've also hacked in AIX "src daemon"
support. This version of sendmail can be found under:
/afs/umich.edu/group/itd/umich/build/mdw.blaze/sendmail-8.6.9/
This is a build area, so it's subject to change without notice,
(and might not build or work.) Still, if you are interested
in using pts groups in sendmail, or have lots of rs/6k's, you might
find this interesting.
All of these are "unsupported" and "as is".
