NNTP is a great protocol; I've run a site with a couple thousand users and news ran just fine on an old underpowered box over the net using NNTP. If I had run it in AFS it would have been a disaster. AFS is not the way to supply huge rapidly changing dataset of which only a small fraction are every used to your user community. This reminds me of the comments everyone has made about contortions to store mail into AFS when kpop is available and works far better as a mail delivery paradigm. Perry
