I received enough questions on the Boxhill utility to warrent another posting. It's basically an interface between the "vos dump" command and "Networker" product. (For those of you who know networker, it's an application specific module (asm) called "vosasm." It functions similiarly to "uasm" which backs up UNIX filesystems.) I'm only running on it Sun platforms currently. It seems to do the job, although it isn't all that granular since it backs up data at the volume level. It suits us since we only use the AFS networker backups for archival purposes. Castastrophe planning is handled via read-only replicas, and online backups are handled through mounted *.backup volumes. BoxHill's number is 1212-989-HILL. I sent them a request to post a synopsis of their product to the list.
