At the time we were developing OSF/1 AD 1.0, the sys names in use for
Mach3-based OSF/1 systems were of the form XXX_mach (i.e., i386_mach and
i860_mach). I had thought that the AFS client was functional in AD 1.0,
but I could be wrong.

Since then, all OSF/1 systems now use XXX_osf1Y, where XXX is as above
but Y is of {0,1,2,3}, reflecting the (OSF) version of OSF/1. 1.3 is the
latest, and the new version of OSF/1 AD (2.0) is based on that.
