My experience is that once you run the "vos syncvldb" and "vos syncserv"
commands on Server X, you'll get duplicate vldb entries for any
read-only sites on X. I recommend that you check for this with the
"vos listvldb -server X" command. I'm not sure why this happens. I just
know that I saw it when I changed the IP address of 6 file servers.

Depending upon the version of AFS you're running, there's also a
"vos changeaddr -oldaddr <original IP address> -newaddr <new IP address>"
command. We tried it earlier this week. The machine, a sparc 5 running
solaris 2.3 with afs 3.3a (sun4m_53) paniced and crashed. It was okay
once it was rebooted. I'm not sure if this experience is applicable, since the
machine's hostname was changed as well.

Sincerely,
Steven McElwee
