Does anyone have any experience with changing a file/database server's IP
address? Here is what I'm planning to do, I'd appreciate feedback from
anyone who has done this before or has some insight.
1. Server X is currently the system control machine, so for ease through
this transition, the first step is to change who plays this role.
2. bos delhost server X as a player in database servers.
3. Server X is changed from ethernet to fddi.
Install board and bring up the server with the SAME name
but different IP number.
4. bos addhost server X to be a part of database.
5. Change all CellServDB files on clients to know the new IP.
6. On server X, do 'vos syncvldb X' and 'vos syncserv X' so
vldb knows that all the volumes are residing at this new IP address.
Is it really this simple? Am I missing something? Is there an URL out there
describing the process?
