Ghostview seems to read in
*all* information about the files.
This seems to be the trend in application behavior. I still think it's
anti-social. For ghostview, I always start it with a file name on the
command line.
Xv has the same problem, but you can fix it with this X resource:
xv.nostat: True
The NeXT file manager also has this bug, and someone here fixed it by
changing afs so that it makes up stat info for things in the /afs directory,
instead of going to the file server. This is actually a reasonable thing to
do. Mount points are always directories (which is what ghostview and xv are
trying to figure out), and size and ownership really don't matter.
