We are using adsm. Our clients are Suns and Digital/Compaq Alphas, and PCs
(Windows, Linux). Adsm is used regularly to backup data on AFS and non-AFS
filesystems.
I must say that I really like adsm, but it seems not to be perfect in
conjunction with AFS. E. g., ACLs are not saved, only standard Unix
permissions.
We also had several failures to backup large AFS volumes ("dsmc: Internal
program error. Please see your service representative."). These problems went
away after running vfsck/salvager on the volumes in question (this was the
advice of the service representative), but the real cause of the problem is
still unclear to me.
