Hello,
The upgrade from 3.4 (3.4 5.55) to 3.5 (3.5 3.332) has been rather
painful. We have upgraded three of our 9 fileservers (all upgraded
servers run solaris 2.6, rest run solaris 2.6 and 2.5.1) to 3.5 .332 and
one of them had the fileserver process to dump core (accompanied by a
10-minute service outage) and the vos commands (vos listvol, vos partinfo,
vos listpart, etc) periodically (about 3 times a day) lock up with a
"possible communication failure error. After consulting with Transarc we
installed the latest patch (3.5 3.45). We haven't had any more core dumps
but vos command communication errors still persist. I have a script that
runs a series of vos commands on all the fileservers every minute or so
and tests the output for communication errors. And, as I forestated, they
fail periodically. Interestingly enough, the communication errors happen
on the upgraded servers roughly sequentially i.e. one will have these
errors for a couple of minutes, another will have then have errors and
then the other will have errors. Hmm.
