Guilty as charged. :-) Steve Wynne has actually done most of the
legwork of organizing the AFS/Kerberos BoF for the upcoming Usenix, but
he asked me to make the announcement, so here goes.
There'll be an AFS/Kerberos BoF at the upcoming Usenix. It's
currently scheduled for 7-9 pm on Wednesday night (6/21) of the
conference. Here's a rough agenda of topics that we've brainstormed for
discussion:
AFS
-- What is going to happen to AFS now that Transarc has maintenance in India?
-- Latest on the Arla (http://www.stacken.kth.se/project/arla/) client?
-- Nitty-gritty: 64-bit kernels, large volumes, backups, etc... in AFS 3.6.
-- NFSv4: how soon, what features, how to participate? (http://www.nfsv4.org/)
-- Getting the word out on Esther Filderman's effort to bring AFSUG into LISA.
-- Where is K5 support for AFS?
Kerberos
-- The recent Kerberos buffer-overrun problems.
-- Status of unencumbered/exportable Heimdal? (http://www.pdc.kth.se/heimdal/)
-- Help getting started managing/trouble-shooting Kerberos.
-- Help getting started with Kerberos development (Kerberizing stuff).
-- Catching up regarding the Microsoft K5 fiasco.
... and I'm sure there are lots of interesting topics we haven't
thought of yet. Incoming USENIX president and @Stake CTO Dan Geer is
hoping to be there to actively participate if time allows. If you're
attending Usenix, I hope you'll stop by.
