Hi Christer, we are sorry for you ;-)

Single files? With about 200 active users (research and education) we
get such requests about one or two times a year. We restore the volume
under a new name and mount it somewhere. We tell the user to copy back
his/her file(s) by their own and tell us when they are done. It does
not happen often, otherwise we would have written an utility with
restores single files from volume dumps automatically.
