Between 1993 and 1996 the german speaking AFS friends used to have an
annual meeting at one of their sites. For some reason this tradition has
been abandoned (it was the time when people believed in the migration to
DCE/DFS).
But now that AFS is going to become an open source project and that some
of the DCE/DFS migrations have been withdrawn it seems a good time to
resume our meetings in order to exchange experiences.
There still exists a mailing list "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to which
I sent my proposal for such a meeting 3 weeks ago. I suppose not all
potentially interested sites knew about this mailing list, therefor I
repeat my invitation at this place.
I think it could be a rather informal meeting of two half days length.
It could begin in the early afternoon, then a common dinner, and it
should end mid of the next day in order to minimize traveling costs.
We could held it either in Garching (a suburb of Munich) or at Chemnitz
as Thomas Mueller from TU Chemnitz proposed. (I personally am in favor
of Chemnitz, of course, since I never have been there before).
What about end of October as a date? That would not conflict with the
AIX AK (mid of November) and the EDV-Treffen of the
Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (end of November).
Please comment and feel free to make other suggestions!
