Dear all,
I have a weird problem with an SGI Indy. If I try to start any programs
that reside on AFS, the processes hang and remain there despite kill -9's.
The machine won't even respond properly to shutdown. It has to be taken
down forcibly.
A "par -s -SS" log of any such process shows only
0mS ( 1362):
(By contrast, any normally executing process would receive SIGUSR1
at this point, execve() the program file, and so on...)
Copying files from the AFS space to the local disk works. Running a
program (say, pagsh) after copying it to the local disk works. What
gives? This does make AFS quite unusable on this machine.
It's running IRIX 6.5.6m, AFS 3.6.
Other SGIs, with IRIX 6.5.5f, 6.5.6m, 6.5.6f, 6.5.9m work fine. I've
seen this behaviour before with an O2 R10k 6.5.6f, but it only occurred
once on that machine.
