as a starting point, try your trouble with the afs client disabled. i dont
see much of a logical connection in the nt kernel between filesystem drivers
and the keyboard. i cant remember the name of the afs service under nt, but
you should be able to set it to manual start under control panel ->
services, and then issue a
net start afsservicename
or a
net stop afsservicename
appropriately at the beginning and end of your afs sessions. let us know if
the problem occurs after doing this. given your reference to 'ethernet'
failing rather than afs, i dont think that this is an afs problem.
also, are you running any custom thinkpad software to enable hibernation
under nt 4.0?
