Although it is possible in CVS (although I forget how), the usual way of
achieving the same goal would be to use tags.

Subject: Bumping up revision number after a release
Hi!
Everytime we release a version we bumped up the revision numbers of all our
files by 1 eg. from 1.4 to 2.1 ..and 9.12 to 10.1
How is that possible in cvs?
