CVS logins

I installed CVS on a new computer.  When I try to 'cvs login', I 
get an error:                                                    
                                                                 
cvs [login aborted]: authorization failed: server cvs rejected   
access                                                           
                                                                 
                                                                 
With the same user name and password, I can login from another   
computer.  Do I                                                  
need to add the new computer to a configuration file on the cvs
