Looks like /tmp has the "sticky bit" set, (that "t" in "drwxrwxrwt").  
I know that for me, "make check" (or was it "make remotecheck"?) 
won't pass with that bit set.  Gets some permission problem at 
some point... (I forget exactly what goes wrong...)

Anyway, you might try "chmod 777 /tmp" and see if that helps.
Just an idea.
