It sounds like your inetd is misconfigured. If you did set it up, don't
forget to HUP or restart inetd after changing it's config files. Go
through the section on setting up a remote repository in the CVS manual
then carefully through the section on "Trouble connecting to a remote
repository" ( http://www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/cvs_21.html#SEC182 ).
You might search the list archives at
