That's a very dangerous thing to do. NT and Unix have different line
ending conventions which can cause no end of grief. In particular,
checking out on one platform and then trying to do CVS commands in the
same directory from the other platform generally doesn't work right,
although it isn't always immediately obvious.

There shouldn't be. As for your specific problem with logging in, what
error message do you get? Chances are your $CVSROOT isn't correct.
