Perhaps this is related to the size (I'm out of my element here) of the
stack/space/threads (or whatever) available to the CVS exe that was
launched inside the script? That may explain why you don't see the
error from a direct command-line invocation. I don't know how to check
for this though. FTR - my error shows up when invoked from a perl
script as well, though not every time. hmmmmmmm...
