You can, but I don't think it's necessary. Assuming the jar contains the class files created from .java files in the same repository, ideally what you'd like to do is mark the java files used to create the jar with a tag and then build the jar with ant or some other make tool. If you need to go back to an older version, just update the sandbox with that tag and run the build again.
