I put the load path back in my emacs to point to my local gnus.

but why on earth would emacs-snapshot have a 22.0.50 emacs but allow 0.4
gnus? According to my load path, there is a
usr/share/emacs-snapshot/site-lisp/gnus, but unlike cedet and some other
stuff the gnus subdirectoy is not on the load path.

A failing in the emacs-snapshot install package perhaps?
