I've got or am in the process of putting star office on everything
(Wintel anyway) here at Lake Park, although I really don't see much of a
difference between OpenOffice and Star Office unless you need the
database program - and then its only for 3 users and maxes out at 100
MB. OpenOffice will also work on computers at home if they want to work
on projects at home and bring them to school.

The price is right - $50 for a site license for schools.

Subject: [info-tech] Star Office Debate again

Just thought I would throw this out and tell the others in the group
that we here at East Greene are probably going to switch everything over
to Star Office 6 next year except my business lab (I will load both) and
a couple of other people.

I can't afford to update my Office 97 to the new one district wide. I
do not have $10,000 to do that and Star office is free. I am test
running now in a couple of labs and everything is working great and we
can still open our office documents.

Give me some of your feelings on this or if you just want to let me be
the foolish test school I will do that.

If I had more money I would consider Office but since I don't I have to
look at alternatives.
