Hi Jackie, we just don't let staff or students connect personal devices
to the network. Too many potential problems. That would just not be
manageable for us.

Subject: [info-tech] student access to the network

Greetings, all! Here is my question for the week:
I am beginning to have the scenario of students bring in their
wireless PDA's and laptops to school. They would like to be able to
connect to the network to be able to print, etc. from their devices.
As I look down the road, I can envision many beginning to want to do/
have the capability to do the same thing. Do any of you have
policies regarding this? Do you/would you start configuring their
devices to connect? I see the advantages, but am also envisioning
the can of worms that could be opened. Thoughts/suggestions/
comments? Thanks, and have a great day!
-Jackie
