Beth, When connecting the Macs to JMC try to have it through a AFP connection, rather than a SMB connection. See if that helps. I am pulling from memory, but I think JMC has a problem with Macs connecting via a SMB share. The Mac locks the files from anyone else using them. I think if you go through an AFP share you don't have those problems. Not sure if that will fix your problem, but JMC has had that issue for years. Maybe this has nothing to do with your issue.
