Beth,

When Jason says use AFP - when you login on to the server be sure to put afp://ip address for server to connect to JMC.

I use that format when I connect a Mac to a server.

That may help.

Beth,
When connecting the Macs to JMC try to have it through a AFP connection, rather than a SMB connection. See if that helps. I am pulling from memory, but I think JMC has a problem with Macs connecting via a SMB share. The Mac locks the files from anyone else using them. I think if you go through an AFP share you don't have those problems. Not sure if that will fix your problem, but JMC has had that issue for years. Maybe this has nothing to do
with your issue. Good luck!

Subject: [info-tech] JMC problems

I'm turning to all of you since JMC can't seem to help me with my
issue. I have 3 machines (myself, Guidance and Curriculum Dir.) all
running JMC on Mac 10.5 connecting to a Windows 2003 server where JMC
is housed. Daily I get a semophore error of some kind and can't get
into District Office application. JMC has told me to delete the
semophore files - that helps for a day. JMC told me to check for user
privileges for the Data and Transcript folders on the server - they
are correct. Now they say that it's a connection problem between Mac
10.5 and Server 2003 and not JMC. Is anyone else having these
problems and what do you suggest I look for now?

And don't tell me to move to a PC, I love my new Mac!

Very Frustrated,

Beth
