This happened to me a few months ago.

Hotmail account was hijacked by someone who changed the question answer (forgot your 
password, click here?) to Russian.

Many emails to hotmail did not resolve the issue.  They just kept telling me to get 
another "Free" email account.

However, I was pissed to say the least.

If you use these so-called free email services, make darn sure you do not keep any 
mail or personal information in your mail folders!  Most importantly, do not use the 
same password for all your online accounts because you will not get any help from 
those services.
