TCP/IP addresses reserved for 'private' networks are:
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
These are invalid addresses on the internet. Routers don't route them.
It would have had to be someone on your local network who was pinging you,
or a false report by your firewall. You might check your local IP address
and see if it is coming from you.

I have used a firewall, one brand or another for more than a year
now. You will find that there are many attempts at sniffing for
open ports at various times of the day. Even your own ISP will
sniff to see what is online. My first experience with a firewall
was embarrassing. I was using Black Ice at the time. First thing
I noticed was an attack and the attack came from someone at
Optonline, my cable internet provider. I had the name of the
person and all and phoned to tell them someone was hacking my
computer from their customers.
Nothing was done to my knowledge and when I told my son he
laughed and told me they just check from time to time to see what
or who is online and if it is all working. I have also had major
and minor attacks registered but the firewall kept me in stealth
mode .... I therefore remained undetected. As long as you are
behind a firewall, chances are you will be ok. There is a site
you can use to see if you are completely in stealth mode. It is

computer there.
