Where do you get off talking down to me like I am some paranoid
child? I have been online since about 1993 and have seen the
changes. Nobody accused me of sending a virus because the name of
the virus was in the letter I wrote. I don't know if you are
aware of it or not but I have seen virus software go off just
with the name in the contents of the message, thus I camouflaged
it on purpose to save everyone on this list the annoyance should
that occur. Pardon me for being nice!
Microsoft product are and have always been targets of attacks and
I choose to use Outlook Express, Outlook and Internet Explorer
... my choice! Better product than Netscape. My life has been in
turmoil caring for an elderly parent for a year and watching her
die so sorry I had no time to check out Opera or anything else on
the market! priorities got in the way of technology.
I have also been a target because of the name I chose as a
nickname and realize that now. Thus, I am in the process of
removing it from my computer and all correspondence.
Anyone who chooses not to use a virus program or a firewall is
insane. The internet is and has become a an even more hostile
environment than when I first began online. I say take
precautions but don't go overboard. Sounds like you have a
problem and in your superior frame of mind, feel immune. Good for
you. I never open attachments either. However, my virus program
of choice, Norton's, picked up the viruses sent to me before I
even got to my inbox. Good for it! Saved me the problem of
deleting it myself. At least I know it is working.
You call firewalls and virus protecting software fads and
programs just to make money for companies yet Zone Alarm is free
as was Inoculate It. Where is there money being made there? Also
out of the 192 people in my address book only one person runs an
Apple and everyone else is on a pc. So go ahead and break into
her computer too.
Gee, get real and stop with the superior attitude. The internet
has become a hostile environment. Period. I defy anyone to tell
me otherwise!
