As another variant of the Badtrans virus sweeps across the internet this
week, we wanted to send a reminder of some of the things you and your
subscribers can do to curtail the spread of email-based viruses. Though
this current outbreak is no more virulent than previous versions, it is
widespread.
As a first line of defense, we strongly recommend that all users install
virus detection programs on their computers to block
attachment-generated viruses. This fundamental step provides the best
virus protection.
During known virus outbreaks, its a good practice to remind subscribers
to install or update virus software, and to be extremely cautious about
opening email attachments (even from people they know). List Managers
who run unmoderated discussion lists may also want to switch the list to
"Moderated" so that virus-laden messages are not passed on to the list.
Update on Slow Hotmail Delivery

Hotmail has resolved the issues that made it difficult for Topica and
others to connect to Hotmail servers yesterday. Topica mail being sent
to Hotmail addresses is once again being sent with normal speed.
